Jakub Józef Orliński, countertenor

Widely admired for his talent, graciousness and stage presence, the young breakdancing countertenor, Jakub Józef Orliński, will certainly be one to watch in the future.  This colourful programme is his first collaboration with L’Harmonie des saisons, the early-music ensemble from Granby. In addition to charming repertoire pieces, included here is one of Bach’s more seldom performed works, an arrangement he made of Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater.  Why Bach’s version is not as renowned as Pergolesi’s original is a mystery. After all, the only real difference between the two is the text: the ravishingly beautiful music remains the same.
