In this final concert of the Festival, the conductor Alexander Weimann and the Arion Orchestre Baroque offer us a highly refined programme.  A charming Ouverture by Bach’s lifelong friend, Georg Philipp Telemann, is followed by a Christmas cantata by Bach’s immediate predecessor in Leipzig, Thomaskantor Johann Kuhnau.  Finally, the programme ends with one of Johann Sebastian Bach’s masterpieces, the Magnificat.  Note that the five soloists of the choral works also sing the choir parts.  Even if less familiar that Bach’s music, Telemann’s and Kuhnau’s beautiful works are undoubtedly very deserving of being heard.
