Two famed conductors – Andrew McAnerney and Matthias Maute – join forces and with their respective ensembles – the Studio de musique ancienne de Montréal and Ensemble Caprice – propose an unusual programme which associates two Bachs, father and son, with Handel, whose large-scale Ode for the Birthday of Queen Anne and Anthem for the Foundling Hospital will be performed.  Note Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach’s seldom heard Magnificat which the son supposedly composed to eventually apply for his father’s post as Thomaskantor in Leipzig.
