One can always be certain that a concert which includes classical music’s three Bs – Bach, Beethoven, Brahms – cannot go wrong. Serhiy Salov, a repeat guest of the Bach Festival, starts off his impressive programme with one of Beethoven’s best loved sonatas and ends with what is probably Bach’s most famous piece, the Chaconne for solo violin in Brahms’ version for the left hand. Between these two masterpieces, the pianist is joined by exceptional chamber music partners, violinist Axel Strauss and cellist Kateryna Bragina, to perform Brahms’ youthful Trio Op. 8.
